 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
 IS CONSUMING
 BLACK COMMUNITIES.
 BLACK WOMEN

ARE STATISTICALLY SUFFERING  IN EVERY AREA OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE...

Understanding the Issues

What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic Violence refers to all forms of abusive behaviors that individuals engage in to exercise power and control. This may occur in public or in private through physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, or psychological actions and/or threats of action.

The Current Problem

Domestic Violence is astronomically high within Black communities.  These high rates of death and abuse stem from an historical framework that cultivated systems of oppression that produced racism, sexism, classism, and poverty. The Black Community has endured these atrocities and are dealing with collective, interpersonal, and individual trauma.  The ills that have been produced in our community are being taken out on Black Women at the hands of the Black community, specifically in majority by Black Men.  Domestic Violence is destroying our Black Women and the Black Family.

The Lack of Cultural Services

In addition, services for Black Women experiencing Domestic Violence is limited.  Domestic Violence services framework are led primarily by white women, and there is a failure specifically in cultural understanding, racial equity, and inclusion. Even with the honest intent of white led domestic violence organizations, the statistics do not lie, we are being affected at the highest rates. Black Women should be leading the tools and services framework to address domestic violence issues from the perspective of the Black experience because only we know what we truly need.

Due to limited focus and failures of services, Black Women have a limited to obsolete voice in obtaining adequate safety and support to survival.  IAmProSe is here to assist Black Women and cease domestic violence in the Black Community, but we can not do this without you. SUPPORT!
